Below is a material exploration using Shima Seiki wholegarment knitting machines. Whole garment knitting is an extremely sustainable manufacturing process as it is made to order, requires no assembly, and creates minimal waste (almost none).

I started with paper origami shapes and translated them into Apex software to be knitted. These patterns were created in the process of designing 3D knit shoes that are designed for disassembly. See more about 3D knit shoes!
